The East Grand Middle School Nordic ski team put in a 3rd place finish for the boys and a 5th place finish for the girls at the first meet of the season at Spring Gulch near Carbondale on Saturday, Jan. 11.

The top skier for the girls, who took 5th place, was Annie Kuhns with a 10th place finish and a time of 13 minutes, 46 seconds on the three-kilometer course, skied in the classic technique. Other skiers for the girls were Anna Lantermans, 25th, 15:48; Haley Miller, 29th, 16:18; Lena Moss, 34th, 18:21; and Sabra Forquer, 36th, 19:38.

The top skier for the boys team, which finished in 3rd, was Dane Jensen, who completed the course in seventh place with a time of 11:55. 

Other skiers for East Grand in the boys race were: David Hammond, 16th, 13:14; Carter Chamberlain, 22nd, 14:04; Colvin Villup, 47th; 18:06; Barrett Acker, 49th, 20:09, and Franklin Stine, 51st, 22:30.

Adrien Brower of Granby Elementary School, skiing as an independent for East Grand, came in 31st with a time of 15:16.  

A total of 52 boys competed.
