The EGMS Nordic team had its first race, a 3K classic, at the Steamboat Touring Center on Saturday January 13th.   The race featured an individual start, with racers setting off every 15 seconds. The course included rolling terrain with a few significant hills.  The Cubs skied very well as both the girls and boys teams took 2nd place overall at the meet.

Seventh grader Silvia Brower won the girls race in a time of 11:57.  She was followed closely by Elizabeth Hammond in 5th place overall, Annie Kuhns in 7th, Gabrielle Pellini in 9th, Keely Monkouski in 10th, Addie Deplata in 12th, Rosemary Trottter in 14th, Taylor Lahrman in 16th, Aly Barker in 22nd, Allison Life in 23rd, Lillie Raegner in 25th and Sophia Gantt in 26th.  

Seventh grader Grayson Barker was the top finisher for the EGMS boys, finishing 6th.  He was followed by Andy Troccol in 8th, Nick Forquer in 9th, Asher Michel in, Kyle Vogelbacher in 11th, Oliver Schneller in 13th, Calvin Ciccarelli in 18th, Chance Hein in 19th, Jonathan Callarman in 20tth, Caden Hansen in 24th, David Hammond in 26th, Luke Vecchiarelli in 27th, Dane Jensen in 30th, Luke Peters in 32rd, Jonah McKnight in 33d, Seth Ammon in 34th, Ben Ewert in 35th and Jack Nesvara in 38th.   

The Cubs will travel to the Vail Nordic Center for their next race on Saturday, January 20th.
