Members of the Winter Park Competition Center Full-time Academy united on Wednesday, October 30 at Devil’s Thumb Ranch to help pack the cross country ski trails. The volunteer group was comprised of athletes and coaches from all disciplines including Alpine, Big Mountain, Freeski, Freestyle, Snowboard, and Nordic. They joined forces to help prepare the Devil’s Thumb Ranch trails for winter use.

Isaiah St. Pierre, the Nordic program director for the Competition Center, helped to organize the project alongside Devil’s Thumb Ranch. The intention behind the project aligns with the Competition Center value to create “total-athletes.” It served as an opportunity to bring the Competition Center’s Full-time Academy participants together to support the local community and unify as a team.

October 29 marked the start of the season for Full-time Academy athletes with additional teams to start in the coming weeks. Rocky Mountain Freestyle’s Rocky Competitive Series will be the kickoff for mogul events on Ambush this season. Training starts on Friday, December 13 with the competition to follow on December 14 and 15.

There is still time to register for Competition Center programs, awarded Gold Club status by U.S. Ski and Snowboard for five years. The All-Mountain Friday program still has space available and is a great option for local families with kids ages 6 and up.
