On Saturday, February 9, Grand County Search & Rescue responded to rescue a 38 year old female snowmobiler who had driven her rental machine over a cliff in the Porphyry Peaks area near Grand Lake. According to GCSAR, the sled landed about 75 feet below where it went off, and, the woman was located another 75 feet below the snowmobile. She sustained serious injuries.

With assistance from Grand Lake Fire Protection District and Grand County EMS – Mountain Medical Response Team, the subject was uphauled about 150 feet to the ridge, and then transported by snowmobile to a waiting helicopter for airlift.
