Winter Park Town Council Meeting November 7th

The Winter Park Town Council met on November 7th and approved numerous action items on their agenda as well as the 2018 budget.  

The Town council approved a special event permit for a ski movie premiere at HIdeaway park.  Ski Broker is hosting a season kick off party with three ski movies from Matchstick Productions, Never Summer, and TGF to support The Grand Foundation.  Beer, food, and special giveaways will be provided.  The event is $5 at the door and will be held from 5-9 on Sat. Nov. 25th.

The Town Council approved an ordinance that would trade a 664 sq. ft. section of town property to Arrow at Winter Park, Inc. The council remarked that the trade would provide better snow storage options for the town and provide better property access for the Arrow Development.

The Town Council agreed to adopt the Three Mile Plan for annexation of of land to follow state law.  The council repealed a previous resolution from 2004 of annexation policies so as not to cnflict with state statutes as recommended by the Town Attorney. These steps are a measure to prepare for the annexation of the Beaver properties annexation.  The first public hearing for the Beavers annexation will be held in January of next year.  The town has resubmitted the legal documentation on teh annexation to include the proper right of way for the property annexation which was not contained in the original agreement due to a clerical error.  

The Town Council reviewed the budget for 2018 and noted that sales and lodging for the Town of Winter Park were up because of new retail development.  Total Revenue for the town increased $771,000. The general fund remains well in the black at the end of 2018 at $3.8 million.
