The Town of Winter Park held their Grand Opening and Ribbon cutting last week for the new Hideaway Station development which includes 38 new affordable housing units, a parking structure, some retail space and the new Fireside Market and Eatery.

The celebration was well attended and had a few dozen residents and citizens from the Valley including coverage from Denver Channel 7. Jimmy Lahrman Mayor of Winter Park said, “This is a great addition to the community. I am proud of the work we have done bringing this to fruition.”

Chip Besse, project investor team said,  “We worked hard for 5 years putting the pieces in place.”  One of the toughest pieces was finding the right tenant for the Grocery Store.”  The selection team interviewed at least 70 different grocers before deciding on the Fireside Market and Eatery group. Besse said, “it had to be the right fit to make it work.”

The celebration was highlighted by remarks from Drew Nelsen, Winter Park Town Manager, Jim Meyer, Nathan Svoboda and Catherine Ross all speaking to the excitement, accomplishments and the team effort that went into the project.

Nathan Svoboda, General Manager said, “I am super excited to be back in this community and am enjoying seeing familiar faces.  We’re happy to provide such a positive experience and to provide convenient options to put good food on the table”

After the celebratory ribbon cutting attendees were able to go on self-guided tours of the market and a couple of units in the apartment complex.

The market had samples throughout the store with a crowd favorite being the fresh rolled sushi bar, burrito bar, deli sandwiches and snacks.

Another bonus in the store is their Local Colorado Products a real highlight in the meat department. I spoke with Larry Swing, Meat Department Manager and he showed me an entire section of Grab and Go foods they refer to as “Prepared meals for the home”.  The prep and make fresh Pot Roast, Meatballs, Casseroles and much more. Take them, pop them in the oven and you are enjoying home cooked meals in no time.  Swing said, “We want the shoppers to have good wholesome foods they can easily heat and enjoy without all the prep work.

The Fireside Market and Eatery is a great breakfast, lunch or dinner stop conveniently located in the heart of town.
