Pile burning expected near Winter Park this week

With fresh snow arriving, U.S. Forest Service firefighters could begin burning slash piles near the Town of Winter Park this week. The piles are located east of U.S Highway 40, along Moffat and Water Board roads, above the Lakota Subdivision.
Smoke may be visible from Arrow Tunnel, Corona Pass, Lakota Trail and Winter Park Resort.
Seeing flames and smoke, even after dark, is part of normal operations. Wind helps disperse smoke created during pile burning operations and snow helps keep the piles contained.  Firefighters monitor the area after burning is complete. Ignitions are generally expected to begin after 10 a.m. and will cease several hours before sunset. Precipitation, wind, temperature, fuel moisture and staffing all play a part in when and whether ignition occurs.  Public and firefighter safety is always the number one priority in burning operations.
If you know anyone else who would like to receive updates on pile burning activities in the Sulphur Ranger District area, have them email krarmstrong@fs.fed.us and ask to be added to our email updates. A complete list of areas where pile burning could occur on the Sulphur Ranger District this season is located at: http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4648/.

Organizing Developmental Regulations

The Town of Fraser is updating its land development regulations, and a public workshop regarding the project was held Thursday, November 2nd, 2017.

Fraser’s development code update will consolidate all land use-related regulations (zoning, subdivision, landscape, lighting, sign, and other relevant municipal code provisions) into one document for ease of reference. The objective is to create a unified development code that is user-friendly and reduces some of the regulatory barriers to development.
The Fraser Development Code Update Project is partially funded by a Colorado Department of Local Affairs administrative grant.  A consultant team led by Plan Tools, LLC of Loveland, Colorado is assisting Town staff with the project. For more information, please contact Catherine Trotter, Town Planner, at (970) 726-5491 x209, or visit http://www.plan-tools.com/Projects/FraserCode.
