Nearly 44% of Grand County’s registered voters turned out for Tuesday’s Primary Election. Of 10,732 registered voters, 4,676 cast their votes for Democratic and Republican candidates, primarily by mail-in or drop-off. 

US Senate

In the Democratic Party, 1,574 voted for John W Hickenlooper (65.69%), and 822 voted for Andrew Romanoff (34.31%). Statewide, Hickenlooper won with 534,293 (over 59%) of all votes.

Running uncontested, 100% of the Republican vote went to Cory Gardner, with 2,025 votes. Statewide, Gardner received 529,231 votes.

US Congress – District 2

Democrat Joe Neguse received 100% of the vote, with 1,983 votes cast. In District 2, Neguse received 139,000 votes.

Republican candidate Charlie Winn received 100% of the Republican vote, at 1,708. In District 2, Winn received 60,200 votes.

CU Regent – District 2

Grand County Democrats cast 998 votes for Callie Rennison (53.48%), 438 for Aaron Harber (23.47%), and 430 for Dave Gross (23.04%). In District 2, Rennison received 72,341 votes (53.23%).

Republicans cast 100% of their votes for Dick R Murphy, at 1,740. In District 2, Murphy received 61,141 votes.

State Senator – District 8

Democrat Karl Hanlon received 54.88% of the vote, with 1,102 votes, and Arn Menconi received 906 votes (45.12%). In District 8, Hanlon received 10,592 votes and Menconi received 8,243.

Republican candidate Bob Rankin received 57.02% of the Republican vote, at 1,219, and Debra Irvine received 919 votes (42.98%). In District 8, Rankin received 11,582 votes and Irvine received 6,709.

State Representative – District 13

Democrat Judy Amabile received 1,772 votes (100%) and Republican Kevin Sipple received 1,769 votes (100%). In District 13, Amabile received 13,328 votes and Sipple received 4,154.

County Commissioner – District 1

Republican Richard Cimino is running uncontested and garnered 1,841 Republican votes.

County Commissioner – District 2

Democrat Shanna Ganne received 1,859 votes and Republican incumbent Merrit Linke received 1,942 votes.

Election results remain unofficial until ballots received from overseas residents and members of the military are counted. The winning candidates will appear on the November 3, 2020 ballot.
