Stan Moore will explore and discuss how railroads and Mr. Moffat shaped today’s Colorado.
David Moffat, banker and entrepreneur, had hands on railroad development from 1872 to 1935. He died in 1911 but his efforts and life cast a long shadow.
The presentation appeals to history buffs, those interested in people’s motivations, folks who wonder how Denver came to dominate the state, railroad enthusiasts, and others.
The focus is on railroads but there is little technical about it. The talk isn’t on engineers, locomotives, sidings or conductors. Rather, we take a walk (or a ride!) through Colorado from Territorial days to the present. We will look at what happened, why, lessons learned or not learned.
The talk is based on Moore’s three historical novels about David Moffat’s railroad. More information at stanmoorewriter.com.
