Sarah Coleman, an attorney from Crested Butte, will be teaching a four-part class on American government and civics at the Crested Butte Library on four Wednesday nights in January 3, 10, 17, 31. The Grand County community can attend via satellite at the Fraser Valley Library from 6-8 p.m. on those same evenings. You can attend one, some, or all of the classes.

This four-part class covers the relationship between the federal and state governments (federalism), the relationship between the branches of the government (the roles, powers, and limitations of Congress, the judicial branch, and the President and administrative agencies), and the interaction between the government and individuals (procedural due process, fundamental rights, and equal protection). The goal for the course is for you to understand your government on a deeper level and to engage with your government with greater confidence.
