Local land conservation group, Colorado Headwaters Land Trust, invites Grand County residents and visitors to purchase tickets for its “Land, Lunch & Lager 2018 Annual Fundraiser” on July 15, 2018 at the B Lazy 2 Ranch & Event Center.
The “Land, Lunch & Lager 2018 Annual Fundraiser,” sponsored by local Grand County businesses, individuals, and award-winning artists, will benefit local land conservation through acquisition of conservation easements in Grand County, Colorado. The land trust’s primary land protection tool is the conservation easement, a voluntary legal document between the landowner and the land trust that identifies the conservation values that qualify a property and permanently protects those values by restricting development, subdivision and other non-compatible uses.
Tickets cost $65/Adult, $30/Child, and $120/2 tickets. A tapas spread will be provided by Stone Creek Catering (with vegetarian and gluten free options). Ticket includes 2 drinks, followed by a cash bar. Attendees can purchase tickets and register online at www.cohlt.org.
The fundraiser starts at 2:30 PM and lasts until 5:30 PM. The event will include the Colorado Headwaters Land Trust’s inaugural raffle, paddle-raising, and silent and live auction. Attend and bid on items such as a guided fishing trip for two, ski passes to our local downhill and cross-country resorts, local pottery and artwork and many more wonderful items. Yard games will be available as part of the fun family-friendly celebration and fundraiser.
Proceeds from Land, Lunch & Lager will help support CHLT’s two priority projects: the Fraser River Initiative and the Colorado River Initiative. Project goals are to 1) increase awareness of the importance of these landscapes; 2) strengthen support for conservation of land and water along these rivers; 3) work with landowners to protect qualified land along these rivers with conservation easements; and 4) collaborate with other organizations to increase conservation success. The primary goal is to acquire purchased or donated conservation easements that encumber both land and water rights—thus forever tying the water rights to the land—to ensure these spectacular river landscapes endure.

As the Colorado Headwaters Land Trust continues to make big strides in Grand County land conservation, the land trust is proud to announce that it recently received its first grant approval from the Grand County Open Lands, Rivers and Trails Fund toward transaction costs of a Kremmling conservation easement. The land trust anticipates closing on this transaction later this year. The land trust also welcomes its newest board member, Rick Anderson, who has a very lengthy and accomplished open space, recreational land management, and administration background.

About Colorado Headwaters Land Trust
The land trust was incorporated in 1995 as a Colorado non-profit corporation and is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. The land trust was established in 1995 as the Grand County Land Conservancy. The name was changed to Middle Park Land Trust in 2000, and then, at its April 2013 board meeting, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to change the name to Colorado Headwaters Land Trust.
The name, Colorado Headwaters Land Trust, reflects the land trust’s mission, its geographic focus, and the fact that the headwaters of the Colorado River — including many of its headwaters tributaries such as the Fraser River — is located in Grand County.
