Friday, October 6

The High Country Conservatives meet at Maverick’s in Granby at noon every Friday.

Join the Dean Public House (412 W. Nevava in Hot Sulphur Springs) for a First Friday event 4-10 pm Oct. 6 (tapas-style menu, craft cocktails and beer, and wine). A portion of the proceeds benefits the Friends of the Grand County Library.

Entry forms are due Oct. 6 to the Granby Chamber of Commerce for its “Adventure Awaits”-themed scarecrow contest for individuals, businesses and community groups (winners to be announced Oct. 27 in the town parking lot next to Brickhouse 40, for most humorous / creative, traditional, theme-appropriate, and people’s choice).

A non-profit, 12-step, Bible-based recovery program “helping resolve life’s hurts” meets at 6 pm every Friday at 257 W. Topaz, behind Granby Elementary.

The Winter Park Pub hosts live music starting around 6 pm. Usually no cover.

The Crooked Creek Saloon in Fraser presents live music (Weston Smith Duo Oct. 6, Bad Water Oct. 13) starting at 8 pm. No cover.

Saturday, October 7

The 9Health Fair takes place 7:30-11 am Oct. 7 at Fraser Valley Elementary School, 125 Eastom Ave., in Fraser. Presented by the Fraser River Valley Lions Club. To register, or for more info: visit www.9HealthFair.org

Pioneer Village Museum in Hot Sulphur Springs features a special History Chat 6-7:30 pm Oct. 7 highlighting the John Wesley Powell expedition (learn about its ties to Hot Sulphur Springs).

The Fraser Valley Rec. District presents Oktoberfest Family Fun noon-5 pm Oct. 7 at the Fraser Valley Sports Complex. This event is a benefit for the Icebox ice rink refrigeration project.

Grapes and Grains in Cooper Creek Square hosts a Utencil Bedazzling class from 6 – 8 pm. The $20 cost includes a drink, snacks and a personally made serving utencil!

Local musician Kenny Sciuto hosts Open Mic at Ullrs Tavern in Winter Park, starting around 9:30 pm.

The Basement in Winter Park hosts Trivia Night 8-10:30 pm.

Tuesday, October 10

The Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash serves up its annual Soup Supper 5-7 pm Oct. 10. Freewill donation. Funds received support the preschool.

Host musician Brian Garcia and Pancho & Lefty’s in Grand Lake regularly present Open Mic / Karaoke Tuesdays starting around 6 pm.

Idlewild Spirits (under Rudi’s Deli in Winter Park) presents weekly pick-up game nights (5-10 pm). Games on hand. People are also encouraged to bring games they might have.

The Basement in Winter Park hosts Open Mic Nights and an open art session.

Thursday, October 12

The Greater Granby Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Business After Hours” gathering 5:30-7 pm Oct. 12 for members or those interested in membership. The event is hosted by Sandra Moore with H&R Block.

The Crooked Creek Saloon in Fraser and guest host musicians (to include Mike Utley and Cody Porche) present Open Mic Night, starting at 9:30 pm. Artists of all kinds are encouraged to sign up. Acoustic guitar may be on hand to play or for backup.

Grand County Blues Society presents New York blues artist Popa Chubby live during a food drive and volunteer appreciation show at 8 pm Oct. 16 at Smokin’ Moe’s, Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park. Admission is free for GCBS members, or $10 at the door (free with 10 non-perishable food items for the Mountain Family Center).
