Mountain Bike Capital USA weekend July 28-30, with bike skill clinics by Alison Powers and Alison Dunlap, organized rides and more.

The Rough-Writers INK writing group usually meets at Big Shooter Coffee in Kremmling at 8 am.

Winter Park Resort presents its Friday Music Series 4-6 pm in The Village with entertainment provided by local bluegrass band Red Dirt Hill. The Friday shows are followed by Coca-Cola Family Movie Nights on the lawn, with “Angry Birds” July 28th. Both events are free and feature a different band and movie every Friday through Aug. 25th.

Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park presents its Music on the Square live music series 6-8 pm in the courtyard. Saturday, July 29

The Intergalactic Pond Crossing at Winter Park Resort goes from 2:15 pm – 3:15 pm. You have to see it to believe it, as athletes race across a narrow floating track on Winter Park’s Village Pond for the fastest (and driest) time. In its fifth year, this has quickly become a rider and spectator favorite. Great prizes are given, so you won’t want to miss it! If you’re participating, registration closes at 12:30 pm, and, there’s a mandatory Riders’ meeting at 2 pm.

Bring the entire family out for the 29th Annual Gut Buster! This fun 5K Run / Walk is open to all ages and abilities. Start time is 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 29. Start and finish areas will be at the Granby Town Hall, (Zero Jasper Ave.). Registration forms are available at the Town of Granby Recreation Department (Town Hall, Zero Jasper Avenue), or by calling the Recreation Department at 970-887-3961. Chris’ Water Rescue “Steak Shoot”.  The 3rd annual steak shoot, supporting the Chris Mullinex’ Water Rescue fund, starts at 9 am at the Crooked Creek Trap Club in Granby.

7th Annual Colorado Wooden Boat Float, a 2-day river float in wooden drift boats/dories with BBQ and campout on the Colorado River. Meet at Pumphouse (look for the wooden boats) at 10 am for a 10:30 launch.

The Winter Park Pub presents DJ Mle of Denver (and Beatport’s top ten Ustreams) starting at 6 pm. No cover.

The 2nd Annual Pub Crawl fundraiser 5-9 pm for Headwaters Trails Alliance takes place in the Fraser Valley (secret route). No need for a fancy bike. Costumes encouraged. Prizes. $40 (+ tips). Tickets & event info: headwaterstrails.org

Fitness in the Park features a FREE Core Zone class with Clare Day  at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park at 9am.

Ullrs Tavern presents Kill the Keg featuring beer specials and live music or DJs starting around 9 pm.

The Winter Park Pub presents its summer Sunday Fundays (4-8 pm) through August. Local “Walking Jukebox” Gary Key performs Americana covers and originals solo July 30, TBA Aug. 6, a bluegrass afternoon (1 pm) Aug. 13, and TBA Aug. 27.

The Basement in Winter Park hosts Karaoke around 8 pm.

YMCA/Snow Mountain Ranch hosts a FREE locals day! Grand County residents receive a free day pass, with proof of residency. You’ll also be able to sign up for a free summer tubing hill session! Check in at the Programs Building to receive your free day pass and to register for a free summer tubing hill session. The Day Pass give access to miles of hiking and biking trails, fishing (rentals available, or, bring your own), pool, mini golf, roller skating, basketball, volleyball, disc golf, family programs and more! NOTE: You must register for the tubing hill session in person at the Programs Desk, and, space is limited!

Trombone quartet Hip Bones performs selections from the 16th century to present (including gospel, big band, Broadway, Dixieland and ragtime) starting at 2 pm at Trinity Church in the Pines in Grand Lake.

 


Monday, July 31

Local musicians Andy Straus and “The Real McCoy” perform live 5-8 pm at Hideaway Park Brewery in Winter Park.

Grapes & Grains in Cooper Creek Square is hosting a Wildtree Tasting Party from 6 – 8 pm.  Rachel Scott will show you all about Wildtree’s easy meals, gourmet meals, and meals you can make ahead of time! Come sample some favorites and learn more! There will be prizes, free meal samples and some awesome deals.

Host Chris Siewak and Ullrs Tavern in Winter Park present Lip Sync Nights starting at 9 pm.

Fraser Picnic in the Park runs every Tuesday through Aug. 29th. The lineup features Bill McKay (former keyboardist for Leftover Salmon) Duet Aug. 1, Red Dirt Hill Aug. 8, ACME Band Aug. 15, Tight Like That Aug. 22, and Tone and the Vibe Aug. 29. Shows are 6-8 pm at the Old School House Park near the Fraser Town Hall and are free.

The Grand Foundation needs volunteers for summer events (which help fund local charities): Aug. 5 for the WP Beer Festival, Aug. 12 for the KBCO SolShine Music Festival, Aug. 19 for WP Uncorked, and Aug. 26 for the WP Music Festival. 10-person teams are being sought for the Dragon Boat Challenge at the Spirit of the Lake Regatta Aug. 12 in Grand Lake.
