The Winter Park Pub has kicked off its summer Open Mic Night season, with host musician
Andy Straus (pictured) from 5-9 pm Tuesdays through Sept 5. There are several Open Mic Nights in Grand County. Artists are encouraged to sign up. Kenny Sciuto hosts Open Mic Mondays at Ullrs Tavern in Winter Park, starting at around 9:30 pm. Host musician Brian Garcia and Pancho & Lefty’s in Grand Lake regularly present Open Mic / Karaoke around 6 pm Tuesdays. Friday, June 9

The Rough-Writers INK writing group usually meets at Big Shooter Coffee in Kremmling at 8 am

The Emily Warner Field Aviation Museum opens at 11 am in Granby. Free admission.

Grand Lake Village and its community invites everyone to join in its Color Me Creative event 1-4 pm featuring artistic displays (painting, glass, wood, photography, metal and quilting), cowboy poetry, and live music (including classical, folk, rock, country and jazz) throughout town. There’s also an open house at the Kaufman House Museum and a display and lecture on animals from Rocky Mountain National Park.

Mustachio’s on Lake Granby presents a Make a Masterpiece pizza and painting party 5:30-9 pm. Theme: flower basket bicycle. Art supplies, cocktail, pizza and desert included with $45 cost. Reservations: (970) 531-4002.

Road trip!  Dead and Company plays Folsom Field in Boulder.  Show starts at 6:30 pm.

State Bridge is under contract to be sold, with expected transfer of ownership to take place June 9 (Owner Doug Moog says he’s been asked about this summer’s music schedule and that he expects the new owners will have “good answers very soon.”).


Saturday, June 10

Hot Sulphur Days continues with a flag ceremony and pancake breakfast at the fire station (8 a.m.), free admission to the Pioneer Village Museum (opens at 10 am), silent auction (10 am), Texas Charlie Shootout / re-enactment at high noon on Aspen and Grand streets, parade (12:15 pm), horseshoe tournament, BBQ, pony rides and other family activities (12:30 pm); Outlaw salsa contest (1 pm), duck race (3 pm), live music band featuring Thin Ice (7 pm), and fireworks display after dark. Winter Park Resort opens its summer season, with base activities to include miniature golf, chairlifts to downhill biking and the Alpine Slide, Epic Singletrack race (noon) and the Chocolate Festival 10 am-4 pm featuring 20+ vendors and kicking off with live music by Edsel’s Garage (“timeless R&B and rock, old school and new”). Idlewild Spirits (under Rudi’s Deli in Winter Park) presents weekly pick-up game nights (5-10 pm). Games on hand. People are also encouraged to bring games they might have.


Thursday, June 15

Friday, June 16

Winter Park Resort kicks off its Friday Music Series 4-6 pm in The Village (June 16-Aug. 25) with entertainment provided by Ali Rose. The Friday shows are followed by Coca-Cola Family Movie Nights (June 16-Aug. 25) on the lawn, with Disney’s “Moana” June 16. Both events are free.

Kremmling Days kicks off at 5 pm and barrels through June 18, with events to feature the Fireman Games and BBQ (6 p.m.), live music with the Country Army Band (5-6:30 p.m.) and PJ Zahn Band (7-10 pm), parade (Saturday morning down Park Avenue), Mustang Mile Race, contests and more. Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre’s 50th anniversary summer season includes “Mama Mia!” (opens June 9); Disney’s “Newsies, the Broadway Musical” (opens June 16); “West Side Story” (opens June 30); and “Almost Heaven, Songs of John Denver” (opens Sept. 1). Lions Club Events Calendar
The local Lions Club meets on the first and third Thursday of every month at 7:30 am for breakfast at Carver’s Restaurant in Winter Park. Look for our yellow trailer serving pancake breakfast on July 1-2, 22-23 and August 12-13. Last week, the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce booked the last act for the Thursday Concerts in the Park.  The weekly event will highlight a mix of up and coming talent from around the region. Big Head Todd and the Monsters will kick off the series June 22nd with a ribbon cutting celebration.
