ZeroWasteWhat Exactly Does Zero Waste Mean?

So you say you are going to a Zero waste event.  Zero Waste!?!  What makes an event Zero Waste ?

Zero Waste is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused. No trash is sent to landfills or incinerators. The process recommended is one similar to the way that resources are reused in nature. Part of the equation of Zero Waste can also include upcycling, which is reusing discarded objects or material in such a way as to create a product of a higher quality or value than the original. By upcycling you actually can go net-negative by preventing a material from going to the landfill long before it has to or should.

infinite_westThe Spirit of the Lake Regatta validates its event to be zero waste by recycling all of the cans, plastics, and paper products produced or consumed to put the event on during the day. We offer up good clean water and sell re-fillable stainless steel water bottles at a very cheap price to encourage people to ditch the plastic water bottles. We use actual dishes and silver ware for the food at the event and avoid buying and wasting a bunch of paper plates and plastic forks. Along with not creating any excess waste, we have a solar powered trailer that powers our food preparation, our band, and any other electrical needs we have. This is the first solar powered brew festival held at 9,000 ft. and potentially in the world.  Once again our featured band is Hunkerdown .  Come out and support this amazing fundraiser that truly lives up to its claims and beyond.  The event is Saturday August 5th, 2017 in Grand Lake, Colorado.
