After deep consideration, the Grand County Blues Society (GCBS) Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the 18th Annual Blues From The Top Music Festival on June 27–28, 2020.

The decision was made in order to protect the health and well-being of the festival attendees, artists, volunteers, and the residents of the Town of Winter Park.

“We know this comes as a disappointment to music fans and especially to the fans that have supported the organization throughout the years. We thank you for your continued support. We look forward to resuming the festival in June of 2021.” said David Brandt, Director of the GCBS.

The BFTOP  has brought thousands and thousands of music lovers together to celebrate and enjoy world class blues musicians with a beautiful mountain backdrop.  Maria Chavez, President of the Grand County Blues Society said, “We love this community and we are going to get through this and continue in our mission to host live performances and provide events to educate the public about the history of blues music.”

“The Grand County Blues Society is a non-profit 501c3 and we need to make responsible decisions so we can get through this pandemic and come out on the other side stronger than ever before.” said Tim Hubbard, GCBS Board Member.

Hubbard said the safety of the musicians, volunteers and concert goers is a major concern.  “We are heading into the great unknown and that makes it difficult to take unnecessary risks this year.” adding, “We rely on our community of volunteers and sponsors to produce this festival. We believe it is important for our community to focus on their businesses, family and rebuilding the economic base that makes our community such a great place to live, work and play.”

The 17th Annual Blues from the Top Festival (BFTT) was the biggest event to date according to Hubbard. “We want to come back strong with a solid lineup for the 2021 BFTT festival and have already begun discussing plans for events and educational opportunities as we move past the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The GCBS team will begin the process of refunding ticket purchases ASAP. If you have already purchased tickets, you will get a refund notification from them and Eventbrite over the next 30 to 45 days.

“We understand that this is a hardship on the musicians that were scheduled to perform. We have started the Blues From The Top 2020 Musicians Fund.” said Chavez. 100% of the donations to this fund will go to musicians in need.
