There’s a change in the dining scene in Grand County. Brickhouse 40 is now under the ownership of Tim Hubbard, proprietor of Vertical Bistro and Rudi’s Deli. Tim describes Brickhouse 40 as a “Bistro/Tavern style restaurant with a chef-driven seasonal menu. The focus is on food quality and presentation, excellent customer service, and consistency”. The changes made in décor give the restaurant a tavern feel that will surely become a favorite of locals and second homeowners alike, a warm and inviting gathering place.
Chef Ryan Singleton, also of Vertical Bistro, has been hands on in designing the food. Currently the Bistro menu boasts tasty options such as Japanese Lantern Scallops, Fresh Ravioli, a 12 oz New York Strip Steak, Shrimp Scampi, Grilled Chicken Fresco, and the much-acclaimed Maple-Apple-Bourbon glazed Pork Chop. Bring your appetite! Make sure you have room for an appetizer as well, tasty starters such as the Crispy Pork Belly served on a bed of BBQ slaw and topped with tomato jalapeno jam is a “must try”. For those looking for something a little lighter, try the Baked Avocado served with goat cheese, crumbled bacon, mixed greens, fresh Pico, and a balsamic glaze – Yum! The idea behind the chef-driven seasonal menu is that menu items will change up two to three times a year, allowing the chef to provide different, creative cuisine to be enjoyed and keep guests returning.
On the Tavern side, the menu offers a little more casual fare such as sandwiches, pizza and Stromboli. Local favorites include the Detroit Deep Dish Pizza, The Crispy Pig Sandwich, and Ryan’s Philly. Appetizers feature a Seasonal Hummus and Brickhouse 40 Wings. Beverages include icy craft cocktails, draft beer available by the pitcher, bottled beer and a really nice wine-by-the-glass menu as well as wine-by-the-bottle. Look for daily Happy Hour specials featuring both food and drink.
My new favorite place for lunch is on the patio! Comfortable and pretty, it is absolutely perfect for a working meal or a stop during the weekend for a bite and a beverage. Bring the family, the ambience and menu are all family-friendly.
General Manager, Melissa Johnson, is a gem. Her enthusiasm is infectious and attention to detail and customer service are priorities. It’s obvious that the changes that have been made to Brickhouse 40 have been made with the local in mind and are very community-driven.
