After some natural snow accumulation and successful snow-making efforts this fall, along with receiving approval from the State of Colorado, Winter Park Resort opened for the 2020/21 winter season on Thursday, December 3.

Sunshine, blue skies, and masked, socially distanced skiers and riders combined to make Winter Park Resort’s 2020/21 opening day conditions pretty much perfect. Winter Park kicked off this year’s winter season with Alex Kudron and Lennon Sarfati, both of Winter Park, on the official first chair.

First day riders spread out on eight on-mountain chairlifts and were treated to twenty trail options on a 24” base, including several top to bottom quad-burners. More acreage will open as conditions allow.

“We’re stoked to open for the winter season and welcome skiers, riders and adventurers to play, reset, and recharge,” said Sky Foulkes, president and COO of Winter Park Resort. “We’ve planned, anticipated and prepared for our winter opening since launching our successful summer operations. We couldn’t be more excited to kick off winter and venture out again.”

While there are currently no indoor dining offerings, there are grab & go food and drink items available at Sunspot, Snoasis, Moffat Market and Derailer.

To prepare for this winter season and with the health and well-being of guests, employees and the community in focus, the resort has modified and adjusted its operations to meet the demands of the current circumstances. Winter Park recently launched “Shred Another Day,” a guide to help guests know what to expect at Winter Park, and to do their part in safeguarding the longevity of the season. Visit “Shred Another Day” on the Winter Park Resort website for more information about what to anticipate this winter.

There are currently no lift tickets available, so anyone wanting to access the mountain will need a season pass product or other previously purchased lift access product. All other products and services, including rentals, lessons, guides and activities, must be pre-booked before arrival. Guests are encouraged to check WinterParkResort.com for the latest updates before heading to the resort.
