Freezin’ for a Reason, on a 45 degree Sunday afternoon with a 44 degree Grand Lake water temperature, Taking Steps for Cancer kicked off the 2019 fundraising season with the Spirit Polar Plunge. Approximately 150 participants wanting to donate the registration fee and show support of Grand County cancer patients braved the snowy temps to participate in this years, Spirit Polar Plunge. Not all braved the chilly water, some Big Chickens laughed from the special viewing area of the Chicken Coop and it only cost them $5.00 more! Teams and individuals competed for costume prizes and also collected pledges.

Taking Steps for Cancer promotes events in June, July and September to earn donations that go to a cancer fund operated by Mountain Family Center. If you live in Grand County and have been diagnosed with cancer, you could receive up to $2,500.00 to cover insurance deductibles, transportation, lodging and other costs associated with treatment. The Spirit Polar Plunge was supported by Grand Co. businesses and run by volunteers.
