Boom! Just like that and in comes a change in temperature, attitude and daylight setting the stage for a series of parties in the mountains. The annual springtime events are a celebratory nod to another great year in the life of a ski resort. Live music, costumes, themed weekends, beer taps, grills, pond skimming and great skiing/riding are just part of the festive vibe around Grand County in March and April.

In the not-too-distant past, folks shed their outer wear and bashed bumps in the buff on closing day. “It wasn’t a pretty sight!” but it was always a good time.

Today, nary an Adam nor Eve will be exposed to the elements. Instead of birthday suits, guys will sport business suits and gals wear skirts and dresses. Others will come clad in costumes not seen since Halloween including a mix bag of classic apres’ attire.

Closing day at most Colorado ski resorts has become a zany excuse for letting loose and having a good time.

This is the closing weekend at Granby Ranch and they have a fun-filled weekend planned with Pond Skimming, Tiki Snowbar, Live music, Dj Party and the First Annual Snow Golf  Classic.

“It’s our last hurrah of the season and we are going out in style!” said Rachel Thackston, Event Coordinator for Granby Ranch. “Join us for our annual Spring Splash event and hang out on our white snowy beach!”

If you want a make the rounds Saturday start with the Granby Ranch Tiki Bar and then head over to TheBigWonderful Festival at the base of Winter Park Resort.

TheBigWonderful is Colorado’s original urban market offering a Beerfest, Bazaar & Live Music in one elevated festival experience. Founded in Denver’s RiNo Arts District in 2014, TheBigWonderful is a cultural barometer and creative business marketplace, bringing together the best of Colorado’s vibrant craft vending, food, beer, and live music scenes into an eclectic and fun festival atmosphere.

The festival had a successful showing last year and Winter Park has become a field trip for organizers and participants. The Winter Park stop will feature their signature BEER FEST on Saturday, March 30th from 12-5pm. 10 Local Breweries and Cideries will line up at the base of the slopes, pouring unlimited samples for thirsty skiers and snowboarders all day long. Enjoy live bluegrass from The Lil Smokies and Woodshed Red during BEERFEST, and shop local at 30+ Colorado makers featuring a wide range of outdoor apparel, locally made jewelry, hot sauces, and more.

Winter Park Resort Bash + Splash celebration is a month of parties planned in and around Winter Park Resort.  Check out their website for more details.
