We are happy to announce this Thanksgiving, we begin our 21st season of Dinners at the Cranmer Chapel in Winter Park! St. John’s Episcopal Church will serve the Traditional Turkey Dinner at 5 pm and continue until 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to join us for dinner which is FREE!
This season’s “Friday Night Dinners” will begin on December 6th and continue on alternating Fridays until March 27, 2020. We look forward to sharing food and fellowship with all who come to enjoy the meals together. As of last year, we have served over 27,000 meals since the Dinners’ inception!
It takes a great number of people to make this happen, including: Winter Park Resort, Grand County Jewish Community, Church of Eternal Hills, Fraser Valley Lions Club, Grand County Catholic Community, Lord of the Valley Lutheran Church, Advocates, Mountain Family Center and Winter Park Christian Church. Each of these organizations host and serve the meals and provide the side dishes and desserts. Grand County Jewish Community and Winter Park Resort each serve and provide the entire meal. The churches and the Lions also donate monetarily to help pay for the main course and supplies; St. John Episcopal Church provides and cooks the main course. Two businesses will also, once again, cater a meal at Cranmer Chapel: Epicurean Catering and C Lazy U Ranch.
Meals are also delivered to those unable to get to the chapel. Some of these wonderful meals consist of baked chicken; ham with mashed potatoes; rigatoni with salad; meatloaf with potatoes; roast pork dinner and more.
The dates for this season are: November 28 (Thanksgiving), December 6 & 20; January 3, 17 & 31; February 14 & 28; March 13 and 27. We start serving at 5 pm and finish at 7 pm. These Fridays are opposite payday dates of Winter Park Resort, our area’s largest employer. Our diners are extremely grateful for the meals, particularly at this time of year when full time work is often not available.
Our sincere THANKS to each of you who participate. We all agree that we receive more than we give in providing meals. If you would like a meal delivered or would like more information call Jim Magill (970) 726-5423 or Gary Piper (970) 531-3988.
If you would like to donate to this program, please send a check to St. John’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 947, Granby 80446 and memo it: Cranmer Dinners.
The door is open to ALL! Come and join the camaraderie either by helping out or enjoying a great meal!
