This Saturday, Devil’s Thumb Ranch hosts the 15th annual Tommelfest. The Viking-themed Nordic festival celebrates traditional customs in the spirit of the first cross-country skiers from Norway and Sweden, where the sport originated. Featuring activities such as free nordic ski lessons, a keg toss and Holiday Market, it promises to be a very full day.

Tommelfest

From 8 am – 4 pm at the Day Lodge, the nordic festival features a variety of fun events. There are activities for kids of all ages and plenty of great photo opportunities with folks clad in the traditional attire of Celtic Nords. Donned in horned hats, kilts, furry vests and boots, they are an essential element of this quirky event. Another crowd favorite is a display of strength: the traditional keg toss, enjoyed best after throwing back a pint or two of glogg.

Holiday Market

Open from 10 am – 4 pm in the Broad Axe Barn, the Market has over 30 local and regional vendors participating. There is certain to be something for everyone on your holiday shopping list.
