There’s something inherently romantic about steakhouses. Dimmed lighting, music, warm ambience and the scent of perfectly seared steaks.
Winter Park’s steak and seafood house, Strip and Tail does not disappoint. It’s everything you expect from a steakhouse and then some. They’ve found a way to be a classic steakhouse, but with a bit of a sense of humor. Just flipping through the menu is fun. The graphics are colorful and amusing and the décor is whimsical and entertaining. Don’t let the lack of stuffiness fool you. The offerings are broad and well thought-out, from appetizers, soups, salads and sandwiches as well as classic steakhouse fare such as steaks, chops, and wild game. From the “surf side”, lobster tails, crab cakes, fish and crab legs rule. There is also an early bird menu with discounted pricing that is available from 3-5:30 p.m. daily.
Daily specials include classics such as Surf and Turf, Thursday night all-you-can-eat Prime Rib, Friday Whole Live Maine Lobster and Sunday all-you-can-eat Snow Crab legs (excludes New Year’s Eve). The warm scent of prime cuts of beef sizzling on the grill cause your mouth to water and the pleasant sound of background music (live on Fridays and Saturdays) give you the sense that you are somewhere special.
The bar is a favorite of locals and visitors alike where they serve up Signature Spirits such as the Strip Martini and the Tail Martini, as well as a variety of margaritas and Moscow mules. The bar also offers Tuaca and Fireball on tap as well as a host of hot cocktails – a lot more than your classic ski town Irish Coffee! An extensive wine, draft and bottled beer as well as a fully stocked bar round out this wonderful place to hang out.
Service is top notch and it’s clear that great customer service is important here. Locals at the bar claim, “It’s the overall experience that’s important”. The staff says, “we want guests to feel like they can come here just because it’s a Tuesday and not just for a special occasion. And bring the family! We welcome everyone.”
